Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies

established in 1991

The Department is accredited to teach students in the professional field:
Chemical technologies
Educational qualification degree BACHELOR

The Department conducts research in the following areas:
  • Synthesis of biologically active substances on the basis of cyclic 1,3- diketones and azadiketones.
  • Obtaining complex compounds on the basis of spirohidantions with transition elements.
  • Obtaining powders and coatings by the method of zol-gel technologies and their characterization.
  • Obtaining selenides od d- and f- elements as materials for semiconductors and optoelectronics.
  • Investigating corrosion treatments of steel in an organic environment.
  • Enrichment of minerals.
  • Utilising chemical industry waste.
Students have the opportunity to participate in the research conducted by the Department and thus acquire additional knowledge and skills in specific areas. Lecturers from the Department take part in projects with the R&D Fund of the University of Ruse, as well as the National R&D Fund.
The study process is conducted by highly qualified lecturers, using new curricula in compliance with the state requirements and the world standards for studying in this degree programme.
Specialisations are offered in two fields:
  • Technology of silicate materials.
  • Technology of pharmaceutical and perfume and beauty products.
