The University of Ruse, named after Angel Kanchev, is situated in a city with a nineteen- century history, a place, where alongside the rich
architectural, industrial and cultural heritage there also live the enterprising national spirit and the deeply rooted European influences.

Our university is the successor of the first national higher technical school outside the capital of Bulgaria, established in 1945.

E-government prizeThe web site of the University of Ruse was awarded with e-government development prize at the XVI-th International Computer Art forum "Computer Space 2004". The winners were awarded on the official ceremony in 10 hall of National Palace of Culture on 12th October. The even was open by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. Special guests of the ceremony was minister of finance of the Republic of Bulgari Mr. Milen Velchev, minister of eduication and science Mr. Igor Damianov, vice chairman of the Parliament Mrs. Kamelia Kasabova and vice minister of youth and sport Mr. Feim Chaushev.
Bulgarian-Romanian Interuniversity Europe Center was established

On 01.10.2004 a new European project entitled European Thematic Networkfor Doctoral Education in Computing (ETN DEC) was launched. This is athematic network which comprises 72 universities and companies from 30 countries.Initiator and coordinator of the project is the University of Ruse.
The University of Ruse is a partner in a project for the development of Occupational Therapy in higher education.
The Association of Agricultural Engineers of Southeastern Europe, shortly AAESEE, has been founded on October, 29th, 2001, in Becej, Serbia and Montenegro, as a regional association welcoming members from Southeastern European countries. Prof. Nicolay Mihailov from University of Ruse has been elected to be the first President of the Association.
