The teaching laboratories of the department are equipped with modern technical means, equipment and computer equipment, which enable students to work in conditions close to real transport processes and means of transport, as well as traffic management and safety. The department has built teaching laboratories for:

  • Diagnostics of cars;
• Technical operation of cars;
• Transport technologies, transportation and logistics;
• Transport systems and innovations;

  • Traffic organization and management;

• Mobile laboratory for researching the safety and efficiency of car traffic;
• Communication and insurance equipment;
•    Traffic Safety.

The scientific research activity of the department is carried out in modern laboratories in the following areas:

  • Optimization of passenger and cargo transportation;
  • Logistics and modeling of transport processes;
  • Diagnostics and maintenance of transport equipment;
  • Organization and management of service activities in transport;
  • Organization, safety and management of transport traffic;
  • Intelligent systems in transport.
         The built research laboratories for: Energy efficiency in transport headed by Prof. Velizara Pencheva, PhD, Traffic management Assoc. Prof. Mitko Marinov, PhD, Transport systems headed by Assoc.Prof. Asen Asenov, PhD, Traffic safety headed by Assoc. Prof. Daniel Lyubenov, PhD and Service activities in transport with supervisors Assoc. Prof. N. Kolev, PhD and Chief Asst. Dr. Mihail Milchev, PhD develop a number of projects and serve the transport activity in the region, developing research and innovation activities.
    More significant scientific and scientific-applied developments of the department are: a scheme for the organization of passenger transport in Ruse and Razgrad; technology for transporting bread and bakery products in the city of Ruse; projects of training grounds for car drivers; methodology for training motor vehicle drivers in critical situations; simulator for training car drivers with digital and analog tachograph; mobile system for registering data from an electric car in operation; over 700 road accident examinations; developed and manufactured transport controllers and detectors; technology and facilities for anodizing aluminum-silicon alloys for pistons; piston  phosphating and oxidation technology, etc.
    Students have the opportunity to actively participate in the research activities carried out by the academic staff of the department and thus acquire additional knowledge and skills in specific areas. The student research laboratory on "Sustainable Transport" participates in research and develops a number of issues related to transport and limiting its negative impact on the environment and people. The students have over 20 publications in student research sessions and received many awards.
           The teachers of the department actively participate in a number of international educational and research programs. Within these mobility programs, students can study at various leading universities in France, Austria, Greece, Sweden, Slovenia, etc.
