The academic staff of the "Machine Tools and Manufacturing Department" consists of five associate professors and five main assistants. Four PhD students are studying at the department. Lecturers from the department conduct classes for students from other faculties in disciplines providing their technological skills.

The MTMD Department provides training for students of the following majors for the "Bachelor" Educational Qualification Degree:

Machine Engineering

A universal and well-established specialty in the professional field "Techniques and Technologies". It provides a broad and serious engineering training in the areas of design, production and maintenance of metal-cutting, metal-working, wood-working, agricultural, road-building, textile, energy and transport machines, as well as machines and facilities for the chemical and food industry, packaging and household appliances, etc. The educational process is built and conducted according to the methodology of leading European universities. The additional training in the field of management enables graduates of the specialty to work as managers and organizers of industrial productions, capable of making decisions and drawing up business plans, as well as forming management strategies.

Graduates of the specialty acquire a Bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Mechanical Engineer".

Management of Quality and Metrology

The specialty was created under the European project EuroQLIO together with the University "Henri Poincaré" in Nancy, France and the Polytechnic Bucharest, Romania. It is the result of modern world trends in the field of production and supply of goods and services and includes modern forms and technologies of learning , provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in management and quality control, metrology and metrological assurance, industrial logistics, information technologies in metrology and quality, general engineering training, professional and business English, personnel management, business communications, etc. An essential part of training in the specialty is practical training, including practices and internships in companies and development of an individual professional project. After the first year, students have the opportunity to participate in an exchange program under the Erasmus program at partner universities and carry out an internship in French and Romanian companies.

Graduates of the specialty acquire a Bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Quality Management Engineer".

Industrial Engineering

The specialty was created under an European project in cooperation with Nottingham Trent University - England. It is a wide-ranging technological specialty with opportunities for implementation in many areas of modern industry. Students receive fundamental, general technical and specialized training with a practical orientation in the field of industrial technologies and machines, the design and management of the main technological processes, production equipment and equipment. The training also includes modern computer methods, company management, quality management and metrology, marketing, methods and tools for processing information flows.

Graduates of the specialty acquire a Bachelor's degree with the professional qualification "Industrial Engineer".

The department is responsible for the educational qualification degree  of Master's students in the following majors:

Digital Program Management Machines Technologies

Engineers who have obtained a Bachelor's degree from the professional fields of "Mechanical Engineering" and "General Engineering" can be trained in the course.

The course was built as a continuation of the training for the Educational Qualification Degree "Bachelor" in the specialty Mechanical Engineering and Technologies from the professional direction Mechanical Engineering.

The knowledge and skills in the design and production of machines and systems with electronic control, measuring devices, etc. are expanded and deepened through general technical and special training in experimental engineering, information technology, production management, CAD systems, and quality management. Special attention is paid to training in the field of programming and operation of CNC machines.

Graduates of the course acquire the professional qualification "Master Engineer" and can realize themselves as heads of technical departments and development units, experts, coordinators of program teams, continue their studies in doctoral studies and work as scientific teaching staff. The training lasts three semesters, the last of which is mainly intended for diploma design. In the third semester, students choose two specialized disciplines, one each in the field of computer and mechanical engineering technologies.

Quality Management

Engineers with a higher education in the professional fields of "Mechanical Engineering", "Materials and Materials Science" and "General Engineering" and graduates of the "Transport Technology and Technologies" specialty can be trained in the course.

The course is a continuation of the education of engineers who have acquired a Bachelor's degree in the professional fields of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Materials Science, and General Engineering. Their knowledge and skills in the design of machinery and equipment and the production of engineering materials and products are expanded and deepened through general technical and special training in engineering experiment, information technology, production management, quality management and metrological assurance of production.

Graduates of the course acquire the professional qualification "Master Engineer" and can work as heads of quality, marketing and sales departments, service departments, quality consulting companies, etc. In addition, they have the opportunity to continue their studies in doctoral studies and develop as scientific teaching staff.

The curriculum includes 13 disciplines. The course lasts three semesters, and the third includes audit practice and diploma design.

Computer Technologes in Mechanical Engineering

The program was built as a continuation of the training of engineers who have acquired a Bachelor's degree in the professional fields of "Mechanical Engineering", "General Engineering" and "Materials and Materials Science", as well as in the specialty "Transportation Technology and Technologies".

Along with expanding and deepening engineering knowledge through general technical training in engineering experiment, production management and quality management, students also receive specialized knowledge in the field of application of modern methods and computer systems in engineering practice for the implementation of digital prototyping technologies. The training is based on software packages for: calculations in computational mechanics, computer modeling of processes in metalworking, computer analysis of fluid flows, simulation modeling of production systems, computer synthesis of technological processes for mechanical processing, rapid prototyping in mechanical engineering, computer design of mechanical engineering companies, computerized management of engineering projects and of the life cycle of products.  Graduates of the program acquire the professional qualification of master engineer and can develop as constructors, designers, coordinators of program teams, heads of technical departments, development units and companies engaged in construction, design research and development activities. In addition, they have the opportunity to continue their studies in doctoral studies and develop as scientific and teaching personnel.

The program has a duration of three semesters, the last of which is mainly intended for diploma design.
