Since 2017 at the department, the SMART in CAD professional student club, headed by Head Assistant Yulian Dimitrov (ydimitrov@uni-ruse.bg), develops activities with students and teachers.

     The Department of Physics at the department conducts scientific research in the following main directions:

  • Optoelectronics and application of optoelectronic instruments,

• Investigation of the optical properties of thin layers,

• Electro-physical and electro-chemical technologies,

• Physical foundations of the monitoring of anthropogenic pollution in the environment,

New technologies in Physics education in technical universities,

• Physics teaching methodology in schools and technical universities,

• Theoretical and mathematical physics,

• Nuclear physics.

     The Department of Physics is accredited to teach in a doctoral program in professional direction 1.3 specialty: "Physics Teaching Methodology".

     The department cooperates actively in these areas with Bulgarian and foreign universities, as well as with institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The results of research carried out in the department over the past 10 years have been published in about 500 scientific articles and reports. They have been presented at international conferences and symposia, and have been cited more than 200 times in international scientific journals.
The department has scientific laboratories with vacuum installations for magnetron and high-frequency sputtering, electron beam and electric arc evaporation and spectrophotometers for measuring light transmission and reflection in the range of 0.2 to 50 micrometers and other valuable research equipment.
