CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIES

The students study organic and non-organic chemical technologies, including technology of silicates and refractory nonmetallic materials, of water, perfume and cosmetics technologies, technologies of organic synthesis and others. The graduates acquire professional qualification chemical engineer  and can work in manufacturing and technological, design and consultancy, as well as research units of the chemical industry and other sectors, whose activities are related to chemical control and analysis. They are prepared to work on such levels in enterprises, companies and institutions, which deal with the above-mentioned chemical production lines.

MASTER PROGRAMMESILICATE MATERIALS"

The program is designed to prepare qualified and profiled specialists who can carry out research, production, operation, company, scientific research activities in the field of Chemical Technologies. They can be leading specialists or work as management staff of companies in the field of silicate materials.

The duration of study for full-time is two semesters and for part-time is three semesters, including the thesis defense.

In the Master's programme Special Ceramics, Equipment in Silicate Technology, Materials for Electronics, High Temperature Inorganic Synthesis, New Composite Materials, Glazes and Enamels, Technical Glasses, etc. are studied.

The Master's programme finishes with  development and defence of a thesis. Students can develop their thesis in other European universities with which bilateral agreements have been signed.

Graduates of the Master's programme in Silicate Materials are prepared to work as leading specialists for building ceramics, for companies mining inorganic binders, special ceramics for the needs of electronics, radio engineering, aircraft and rocket construction, refractories, glass industry, etc.

The programme is open to holders of a Bachelor's degree in the professional field of Chemical Technologies (Inorganic Chemical Technologies), in related specialisations in another professional field, and in specialisations in another professional field.

 

MASTER PROGRAMME „PHARMACEUTICAL AND COSMETIC PRODUCTS"

The Master's program is designed to prepare qualified and profiled specialists who can work independently in different areas of marketing and production of medicines, cosmetics and medical devices - in open and hospital pharmacies, pharmacy laboratories, pharmaceutical and cosmetic laboratories, control and analytical laboratories, factories for the production of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, scientific research laboratories, etc.

In the Master's program, Biochemistry, Chemistry of Natural Products, Medicinal Products of Plant, Animal and Microbial Origin and their Analysis, Biocosmetics, Clinical Chemistry, etc. are studied.

High attention is paid to the methods of synthesis and analysis using modern scientific equipment, work with normative documents, European Pharmacopoeia, regulations and recommendations of the Bulgarian legislation and the World Health Organization.

Graduates of the Master's program in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Products have opportunities for professional realization in pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies - as specialists in quality assurance, in preclinical research and clinical trials of drugs and cosmetic products, as well as in other areas of research. They may be involved in planning and conducting tests on various medicines.

 

BIOTECHNOLOGIES

The students study microbiology, biochemistry, ecology, main biotechnological productions, etc. The graduates acquire professional qualification engineer in biotechnology and are prepared to execute technological, control and analytical, as well as management work in the field of production of antibiotics, enzymes, carbohydrates, alcohols, organic acids, etc. They can work as technologists, specialists and managers of production sectors, laboratories, research sectors in manufacturing companies and institutes with activities in the field of biotechnologies.

 

MASTER PROGRAMME „PHARMACEUTICAL AND FOOD BIOTECHNOLOGY"

The programme is designed to prepare qualified and profiled specialists for the production of pharmaceutical and food products. Fundamental knowledge is obtained from disciplines such as engineering experiment, technology of pharmaceutical production, production of enzyme preparations.

Specialist subjects provide knowledge of biosensors and bioindicators, analysis of pharmaceuticals and food products, HACCP systems and good manufacturing practices. Profiling includes functional feeds, genetic improvement and maintenance of strain-producers.

The  Master of Pharmaceutical and Food Biotechnology can organise and launch new businesses, develop products and implement innovations in the pharmaceutical and food industry, and control and manage systems for good practice, safety and quality in the manufacture of pharmaceutical and food products.

The training is full-time and part-time. Students participate in research work, which culminates in the development and defence of a thesis.

The programme is open to holders of a Bachelor's degree in a professional field of Biotechnology, in related specialisations in another professional field, and in specialisations in another professional field.

 

FOOD TECHNOLOGIES

The degree programme offers students profound preparation in food technologies (milk, meat, tinned foods, bread, confectionery, vegetable fats, etc.). The graduates acquire professional qualification engineer in food technologies and can find realisation in all spheres of food industry, including management positions at different levels in the respective enterprises, institutions and control bodies. They are particularly valuable for small enterprises and companies, using modern technologies in food production.

 

MASTER PROGRAMME „FOOD SAFETY CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT"

The programme is designed to prepare qualified and profiled specialists for control and safety management in the food industry.

The fundamental training includes subjects that build the technical culture of the master's students: engineering experiment, hygienic design of technological equipment and process control and management systems in the food industry.

Specialist training is acquired by acquiring knowledge of: sanitary processing methods, occupational hygiene, HACCP systems and good manufacturing practices, laboratory analysis methods, sensory analysis.

Proficiency training includes quality management, risk analysis, research project.

The Master of Food Safety Control and Management finds employment as a manager, performing safety and quality control in food industry enterprises, in the structure of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, as well as organizing their own business.

The training in the Master's programme is full-time and part-time. Students participate in research work at the beginning of their studies, which culminates in the development and defence of a thesis.
