The "Industrial Design" Department was established in 1991 as the first educational unit of its kind in Bulgaria for the education and training of engineer-designers majoring in "Industrial Design" at the University of Ruse.

The department enjoys a high professional creative reputation, as evidenced by the European initiative to attract it to the CUMULUS academic network, uniting renowned European academies and higher schools of art and Design.

The training is carried out according to original progressive technologies and curriculum, developed and practically implemented by a young talented team of 10 full-time teachers and associates.

The goal of the training is a wide-profile interdisciplinary training of creative individuals-researchers with high adaptability in practice and competitiveness in the intellectual-professional market.

Graduates of the specialty receive fundamental knowledge and skills of a bachelor's degree, with the option of a master's degree and a doctorate in industrial Design. They are very well prepared for practice and actively express and realize their creative potential. They are one of the most sought after and preferred by the practice, with which the department is very closely integrated.

At the beginning of 2010, the "Industrial Design" specialty celebrated an anniversary: "25 years of Design education at Ruse University", and in 2011, 20 years have passed since the establishment of the "Industrial Design" department.

The Department of "Industrial Design" with dignity celebrates the exceptional honor - the professional patron of the specialty is Dr. Giorgetto GIUGIARO [D.H.C. of Ruse University] (Italy) - THE DESIGNER OF THE 20TH CENTURY!
