The Department
of Industrial Design was established in 1985 as an unique
higher education unit in Bulgaria offering tuition and
preparation of engineerdesigners whose degree is Industrial
Design.
The Department has high
standing as regards professionalism and creativity and
has received due recognition; as a result of this, an
European initiative has been launched to include it in
the CUMULUS academic network, which brings together high
profile European academics and higher institutions of
art and design.
The teaching process
involves modern methodologies and a curriculum drawn and
implemented by a young and talented team of ten fulltime
lecturers and assistants.
Our educational goal
is to ensure a wide-profile interdisciplinary preparation
focusing on creativity and research as a result of which
graduates will become highly adaptive and competitive
on the professional-intellectual market.
The Bachelor degree course
gives students fundumental knowledge and skills; students
can go on to a Masters course and a PhD. Owing to their
excellent preparation, students are able to realise their
creative potential in jobs relevant to their studies and
fulfil vitae needs of the job market, with which the Department
is in close co-operation.
The Department of Industrial
Design is highly honoured to have Dr. Giorgetto Giugiaro
(Italy) considered as the designer of the 20-th century
as its professional patron.
