Department of Business and Management
The
Department was founded in 1995. It offers high quality
training and research in the following areas: Business
Planning, Strategy and Control; Economics Infrastructure,
Production Management and Organisation; Operations Management;
Finances and Financial Management; Marketing and Advertising
of Commodities and Services; Management Psychology; Corporate
Information Systems; Human Resource Management; Investment
and Innovation Policy etc.
The department
offers BA (Hons) degree to full-time and part-time students
in Economic Management (Business Administration). MA (Hons)
degree will be awarded soon.
The highly-trained
academic staff includes 5 Ph.D., 7 Assoc. Prof., 3 Main
Assistants, 4 Senior Lecturers, 3 assistants and 6 PgD.
(for the year 2000).
Most of the staff
are guest lecturers in the Centre of Management and Enterprise
Development in Rouse, which is a joint company including
the University of Rouse, the Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of
Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rouse.
The department
is well-equipped with computer laboratories, audio-visual
systems, specialist literature for training students.
The department
has taken part in a number of international projects with
partners from the University of Northern Lancashire, the
British Know-How Fund, the University of Minyo in Portugal,
the University of Limerick in Ireland and Robert Shuman
in France. Now it is involved in one Socrates Project
and one Leonardo da Vinci Project.
Staff are actively engaged in research,
and have participated in a project “Business Strategy
Research on Private Small Enterprises aiming at offering
Technical Support in Agriculture’. The project was awarded
with Science and Culture Prize in 1999.
The department
also offers consultancy to local government and industries,
e.g. the Municipality of Rouse, Tutrakan,
We have published
numerous books and articles, eg. A magazine called News
published by the Group of Sciences in Rouse.
